Included Workshops:

Workshop One: Striking and Cutting Out Your Coat

  • An introduction in to the workshop series.

  • Starting with how to strike out a coat pattern and add inlays. How to cut out our patterns in cloth and how to mark stitch.

  • Canvas construction; learning about different types of canvas and the purpose of the constructed canvas within bespoke tailoring.

Workshop Two: Canvas Construction

  • ‘Canvas Construction’, how to make a canvas from scratch, how to pad a canvas and how to take the darts out of the canvas.

Workshop Three: Canvassing

  • ‘Canvassing’, how to join and baste a tailored canvas to cloth, how to apply a bridle and how to shape a Canvassed forepart.

Workshop Four: Feedback Session

  • Learn from others, a feedback session analysing the coat making work completed so far, by others on the series.

Workshop Five: Jetted Pockets and Flaps

  • How to make up jetted pockets and flaps, including how to finish pockets to a professional level.

Workshop Six: Out-breast Pockets

  • How to make up an out-breast/welt pocket, including how to finish pockets to a professional level.

Workshop Seven: Feedback Session

  • Learn from others, a feedback session analysing the coat making work completed so far, by others on the series.

Workshop Eight: Facings

  • How to draft facings. How to cut them out, baste and machine them onto a forepart.

  • Then how to turn and baste them out to completion.

Workshop Nine: Collars

  • How to make up and apply both an under collar and top collar to a tailored jacket.

Workshop Ten: Sleeves

  • How to make up tailored sleeves and insert them into a tailored jacket.

  • Sleeve theory, covering tailoring terms, such as crown height, sleeve pitch, plus how and where to distribute fullness.

Workshop Eleven: Feedback Session

  • Course wrap up.

  • Learn from others, a feedback session analysing the coat making work completed so far, by others on the series.

Final Notes:

  • This workshop set covers key coat making techniques, as listed in the ‘Included Workshops’ section above. It does not cover all steps in the coat making process, due to aiming to create a set of workshops, that are both affordable and time efficient. Those wishing to learn all steps in the Coat Making process can do so through additional reading or via one to one tuition sessions.   • This workshop set covers Coat Making only, as described in the ‘Included Workshops’ section above. This workshop set does not come with an accompanying coat pattern or cover coat drafting.   • The coat made in this workshop set, is a traditional Savile Row single breasted peak lapel suit jacket. Style details like lapels, length and pockets can be altered to your own preferences when making up your own jacket/ coat.

  • The coat making techniques used within this workshop set, work for both female and male jackets.

  • Suitable for all levels, from those who want to add to their existing skills to beginners.

  • Recordings are available to rewatch for a period of two years.

  • Please note, each workshop is a past recording made via Zoom. This workshop series was originally a ‘live’ workshop series held on Zoom. The workshops have not been edited afterwards and have been recorded on an I-phone using Zoom. Using Zoom as a recording service, controls the quality of the recordings.

  • The workshop set will be shared with you via email (to the email provided when purchasing the set), within 24 hours from the time of purchasing the workshop set. The workshops are held on a storage platform called P-Cloud and you will receive a link from P-Cloud which contains the recordings.
