Laura takes on a limited amount of bespoke commissions per year, focusing on high quality handmade special pieces, which are made to last.
The bespoke tailoring process takes place over a time period of roughly three months, where a minimum of three fittings are required in order to complete a commission. Each piece is handcrafted in London with over 100 hours of hand work going into each piece.
Each commission starts off with an initial consultation, which can either be at the home studio based in Balham South London, on Savile Row or at your home or office location.
The design, style and fit details will be discussed, as well as potential cloth and colour options. Measurements can also be taken at this stage.
In between the first and second meeting, your pattern will be drafted and a calico toile will be cut and made. At the second meeting you can try on your sample piece and discuss potential changes to the fit and style of the commissioned piece.
In between the second and third meeting your cloth will be bought, cut and made up into a first fitting. All changes will be made to the pattern and your piece will be ready to try on.
After your fitting the final make of the suit will begin; the pockets will be made up, the facing will be attached and linings will go in. A final fitting will then be required to check how the sleeves fall and then the commission will be completed.
The sleeves will be set in, the button holes will be sewn by hand and all hand finishing will be complete. Your commission will now be ready for collection or drop off at your desired location.
Please do send me an email if you have any further enquiries regarding the bespoke tailoring process or if you would like to book in an initial consultation.
