Laura Teasdale is a bespoke tailor based in Balham, South London.
Laura takes on a limited amount of bespoke commissions per year, focusing on high quality handmade special pieces, which are made to last.
Alongside making, Laura has also founded ‘We Are Sew Happy’ the sewing community encouraging others to make for the joy it brings. Additionally, Laura teaches on a one-to-one basis, whilst also running online tailoring workshops.
Laura’s original love for making started at an early age, where it was supported both at home and at school. Pattern cutting and dressmaking was learnt during textiles at GCSE and A-level. There were opportunities to visit local design houses, such as Vivienne Westwood and from there a decision was made to carve out a career in design.
Laura completed a Fashion Design BA at Kingston University and then specialised in bespoke tailoring at Newham College. Placements were undertaken at Richard James, Henry Poole and Chittleborough and Morgan, all on Savile Row; before Laura started working full time at Chittleborough and Morgan.
Laura was lucky enough to work at Chittleborough and Morgan for five years, where she had the opportunity to learn from Joe Morgan alongside others. After putting in 10,000 hours to master her craft, Laura left Chittleborough and Morgan to pursue tailoring independently.
In November 2019 Laura Teasdale Ltd was born and since then Laura has had the privilege of taking on bespoke tailoring commissions, designing special pieces, consulting and working with other companies, such as Adidas and teaching others how to do the same.
